CHRIS KALLANDER

ADULT/ ADOLESCENT NURSE PRACTITIONER

Chris is a homegrown Alaskan.  She grew up in several communities in Alaska including Juneau/Douglas, Sitka, Nome, Valdez, and currently practices in Eagle River.

Chris spent the first 15 years of her career establishing a foundation in acute care medicine.  She worked as an RN for 3.5 years at Swedish Hospital & Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and 11.5 years in the Intensive and Coronary Care Units at Northwest Hospital Seattle, Washington.

In 1996 Chris earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Seattle Pacific University and completed an additional year for certification to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Her practice has transitioned from critical care to urgent care to integrative medicine.  She also ran an international travel counseling clinic for almost a decade. These transitions led her to pursue special education and training in the treatment of the whole person.  She continues to pursue new knowledge through professional conferences and consulting with national researchers and clinical experts.

Detailed patient centered assessment, incorporating contemporary research and laboratory evaluations are part of Chris’s evaluation.  Areas of interest include female and male bio-identical hormones, when indicated, thyroid and adrenal hormone balancing, neurotransmitters, and gut balancing.  She treats the whole person using nutrition, supplements, exercise, and balancing of the gastrointestinal and endocrine systems.  Individualized treatment plans support patients in securing the path toward wellness.
